My recent post, How to Stay Inspired to Write, highlighted the best ways to keep up the momentum when working on your WIP, so for this one I wanted to talk about how you can write quicker to increase your word count.
Maybe at the start of your WIP, the words just seemed to flow from your fingers like magic, scenes fit together easily and your characters did exactly what you wanted them to. But you’ve reached the middle (or even just a few pages in) and your writing is grinding to a halt.
So, how to combat this?
Writing is a constant struggle for me (sometimes I’m too busy, sometimes I’m not in the creative mood- honestly I have a whole ream of excuses) and as a terrible perfectionist, even getting a few words on the page can be so difficult. I’m sure a lot of you understand this, but one of my main writing goals is just to finish one draft (my inner editor likes to scream at me whilst I’m writing).
